To speak Filipino as a beginner, ask her which language her family speaks at home, then learn their greetings, respect words for elders (po and opo, if they speak Tagalog) and everyday phrases. Tagalog is the home language of about 4 in 10 Philippine households, and none of the 18 teaching pages we read tells you to ask.
